You are what you eat - whales and salmon are, too. From plankton to salmon and from salmon to the great whales, what we put in the ocean affects the life we ultimately enjoy. For one example of how pollution affects life in the sea, read here.
Coordinating a basic perspective of life in our waters, and making this learning available in an easily understandable, interesting and engaging format broadens understanding throughout our region and affects in a positive way the ultimate affects our actions have on life in the South Puget Sound.
Made aware, many will be more mindful of what they contribute to pollution in the South Puget Sound, and some will desire to participate at the ground level at organizations like Puget Creek Restoration, the Surfrider Foundation and Harbor Wild Watch.

This Festivus Season a call goes out to advocate spending with those creating the preferable ways of life for us at the ground level: The families responsible for our local community economy:
Between now and the New Year, try something in the local economy that you haven't experienced yet. Spend 5, 10, $20 a week specifically trying what our local community offers.

Courage is required to step beyond the confines on one's peers, to establish in spite of obstacles a place bettering the lives of those around.
Acknowledging that spirit and courage, presenting the excellent work, we encourage such in and around our community. Discover here a few examples of such pioneering souls.
Access to higher levels of learning is a key component of Tacoma's Lumins Festivus. Coordinating the perspectives of teachers, together with the understanding of those at the ground level working to affect our preferable ways of life, we begin to develop an accessible introduction to the dynamics of Oceanic life in and throughout the South Puget Sound - and show others where to plug in.
Our community possesses a great amount of wisdom and understanding. Combining and sharing this wisdom, coordinating our knowledge and making it accessible to those desiring to broaden their own perspective, we begin to learn about life in the South Puget Sound.
