September 22, 2012 we surprised Vicci Martinez for her homecoming birthday show on the weekend of the International Day of Peace.
Vicci's birthday is actually on the Day of Peace, Sept 21st.
So for 5 years, peace has been a key part of the stars in Tacoma, WA.
On the original Autumn Day, wecelebrated The Stellar Galactic Zü of Life (Video) with a Luminary Procession unlike any our city had ever seen. To the delight of hundreds of visitors downtown for Broadway Center's Fall Free for All, the procession began on Market Street and proceeded to Broadway via South 11th Street, continued to the Spanish Steps, up South 7th Street, down Opera Alley and returned to the Pantages Theater, where we surprised Vicci Martinez with an impromptu Birthday surprise that set into motion a series of events that has culminated into a celebration of the spirit of peace across our neighborhoods, businesses and homes.
With only 22 days to plan, build Lumins (illuminated sculpture) and to coordinate the Festivus, a collaborating team of 8 local artists and craftspeople collectively joined forces to bring us the spectacle of Tacoma's Inaugural Lumins Festivus (the event has since changed names).
Very special thanks is due to Aaron Stevens of Broadway Center for his fantastic invitation to join the Fall Free for All, and to Earthbound Productions of Olympia, WA, for helping us light Tacoma's first ever Lumins Festivus: Without them the feat would not have been possible, and together we accomplished something exceedingly special for our whole community.
Artists 4 Life in the Sound is a collaborative association of independent artisans and artists dedicated to celebrating life in the South Puget Sound, and delighting in, facilitating and broadening access to Tacoma's various ways of local life and culture.

The Olympic Torch
2012's Autumn Lumins was the last time Malcom wore his joyous masterpiece; at Olympia's 2013 Spring Luminary, he passed it to the next generation
The Great Mantis is far richer than even its majestic appearance suggests - Malcolm the Wise shares tradition with youth, and this year passed the Mantis to the next generation.
In the Spirit of this tradition-sharing way of our Olympic neighbors, they did happily with open arms embrace our own efforts, and joyously celebrated our inaugural year with us, effectively lighting our First ever Lumins Festivus - they showed us the way.
This year our independent and like-minded communities take the reigns, imagine the possibilities and light our landscape in the Spirit of Destiny's own.
